A Future York - Penn League occurs as minor league baseball league which operates in the northeastern United States. These are classified as a "short-season Class A" league; its year starts around June, fallowing major-league teams use at times signed their amateur draft picks to broker contracts, & ceases within early September. A league is divided into a McNamara Section, a Pinckney Section, & a Stedler Section.
A league was founded inside 1939 with the title "Pennsylvania-Ontario-New York League". This was typically shortened to "PONY League". A original teams involved a Batavia Clippers; the Bradford Bees; the Hamilton Red Wings; the Jamestown Jaguars; the Niagara Falls Rainbows; and a Olean Oilers. the Oilers, a Brooklyn Dodgers affiliate, won both a regular-year & playoff championships.
A Hamilton Red Wings folded early in the 1956 season, and by owning those days are gone teams inside Ontario, the league adopted its todays title inside 1957. A league crossed back into Canada with the formation of the St. Catharines Blue Jays in 1986. It were joined per Hamilton Redbirds in 1987 and the Welland Pirates in 1989, but whole triad clubs got recede stateside by 2000.
As of 2004, the league includes teams around Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio, and Vermont, when well as around New York and Pennsylvania.
